Therapy dogs are not Service Dogs and do
not have the same access as SDs. A therapy dog is one
who should be certified with a local or national
organization to visit nursing homes, hospitals and schools.
From time to time we have dogs that are
available for Therapy Work. These are dogs that have
the right personality for Therapy Work, but may not be able
to complete all the tasks of a Service Dog. These dogs will be specifically chosen as
dogs for Therapy Work rather than being placed as a pet for
adoption. They will range in size from
small to large breed dogs.
A Therapy Dog from our
program will not be certified, certification comes through
testing of you, the handler and dog. We will provide you
with a dog that should pass all requirements to meet Therapy
Dog Certification. However, it is up to you as the
handler to obtain your certification through a legitimate
organization. (we provide you with several organizations
where you are able to obtain your testing for certification)
