Our Staff

Sydney Elam (Trainer)

Sydney is the newest member of our Canine Crossroads team. She grew up on a farm taking care of the livestock and was very active in the 4-h Horse and Pony club. She graduated from Southern Wells High School in the spring of 2014. The following school year, she attended Ivy Tech in Marion to pursue a career as an elementary teacher. She started working with us in March of 2015 as just a summer job. She quickly learned she loved working with the dogs and her experience working with her horse helped her excel in learning the art of dog training. She attended The National K9 School for dog trainers in Columbus OH, in the fall of 2015 to get her degree as a professional dog trainer. She now gets to utilize her passions for teaching and working with animals, all in the same career. Sydney has two dogs, of her own, Aspen and Dash. Dash was a rescue dog of ours who got to attend dog training school with Sydney.

Amanda Clark (Owner)

Amanda got her 1st dog for her 2nd birthday from her grandparents. This started her passion for dogs.  She grew up knowing she wanted to work with animals for the rest of her life.  During her senior year of high school, she got a job as an ICE student at Honegger Animal Clinic as a vet assistant.  While working at the vet clinic, she realized the need to help people communicate with their dogs and pursued a career in dog training and behavior modification.  In February of 2000, she graduated from National  K-9 School For Dog Trainers master course and Canine Crossroads was founded.  Amanda has 6 Bullmastiffs and a Miniature Poodle that was a Canine Crossroads rescue dog.

Emily Striker (Head Trainer)

Emily is our head trainer at Canine Crossroads. She grew up on a farm and her passion for animals started at a very young age. Emily attended high school at Southern Wells where she began working here as an I.C.E student during her senior year. This opportunity allowed her to work half a day and go to school the other half. Upon graduating high school, Emily attended the Master Trainer Course at National K-9 School for Dog Trainers in Columbus, Ohio, in 2009. She received many endorsements that certified her in service dog training, personal protection, police canine and many other fields of the dog training world. She has two dogs of her own, Bull Mastiffs Sargeant and Ginger.
